Why don't you provide a phone number? It'd be easier if I could just call someone about my question
We tried it before and it didn't work. We had a huge number of calls from customers with general questions about Kindles (Can it play music? I'm going to Japan, will it work there? How to increase the font size?...) or questions about delivery (Has it been dispatched? Is it going to be dispatched today? Can you guarantee delivery for tomorrow?... ). We would also receive hundreds of calls per day asking if we have a new Kindle model that has just been released in stock.
We had to allocate more staff / infrastructure to handle the volume and we reached a point were we had to include this cost into our products. This is no longer the case.
We offer excellent customer service via e-mail, which allows us to focus on what we do best and what our customers want the most: Best Prices, Quality Products and Fast Delivery. We know we will upset those who prefer to buy over the phone, but we will also make the vast majority of our customers happier.
Thank you for understanding this move to more efficiency and effectiveness. It helps us accomplish more to serve you better.
